Is there such a thing as free will? This is a burning question for many humanists. this question is based inthe beginings of Psychology itself!
The humanist perspective says that each choice we make is completely independent. Each choice is spontaneous, and it is not determined by our desires, or even past experience.
I do not believe this- I think (cognitive approach) we are influenced by our minds, past experiences kept in the unconscious mind- & (behaviourist) from actual behaviours reinforced by behavioural rewards.....
To deny the humanist perspective is not to deny free will, but to affirm that our desires are the essence of free will, even if they determine our choices.
But also it is human nature to feel you have a choice and act on this so you can see why this has so much debate.
