This must be a rhetorical question....of course Common and Nas would destroy Lil Wayne in a battle. Ignorant "kids" nowadays think of Wayne as a god simply because he's the only "rapper" that they listen to. While he's finishing up his first verse, which is compiled of 6 bars where he talks about money and hoes. Common/Nas would diss his entire career, his mother, his father, his teeth, his hair, his album sales, his simple rhyme scheme, and thensome.

I'm so sick of all these little kids that love Wayne so much as if he's so good! Just because he's out saying he's the greatest rapper alive doesn't mean he is. Rakim saying he's a microphone fiend goes undisputed because he proves it time and time again.

Now, a real battle would be something like Common versus Nas...ironically, that would never happen because they both have so much respect for eachother.

Yes, I do agree that the lyrical content and delivery of Common or Nas are far superior to that of Lil' Wayne. Really, they operate on different levels of intellect and maturity (spreading messages of tolerance and strength vs. self-proclaiming #1 status).

That is not to say that Lil' Wayne does not have talent. Don't be too judgemental of him for "selling out". The good old days of hip hop are long gone, and artists can't expect to rap just for the love of the art anymore. It's a formula now of get big, and get as much as you can before it runs out.

But getting back to your point, no Lil' Wayne track comes close to any track on "Be" or "God's Son". Word to your Mutha. WBBD Boot City....

I think Lil Wayne has potential to be a great MC, but two things he lacks to be considered in the same breath as Common or Nas and that is 1) he isn't concious enough, I mean he can put a good flow together and every once in a while his metaphors hit home, but it isn't consistant enough to say he is a concious rapper. 2) he hasn't been putting quality records out long enough, He is doing his thing on the mixtape circuit, but Common and Nas have been doing it for years and are known for the ability to speak to the heart of the people, while Lil Wayne is just know getting known for his craetiveness...maybe one day he will be considered a great, but not yet.

Nas is on his way into the cesspool. Common is a conscious rapper he is not a battle rapper. Lil Wayne is doing his thing and he is on top of his game so why hate on that? I love seeing young black men get money and being successful. It makes me happy. Stop hating on the man because he is doing his thing. If you don't like him, don't listen to the music. Point blank. Everyone has a preference but to be hating on a man that is trying to feed his family is not cool and makes YOU look really bad.

Lil Wayne is toward the top of my list as the best rappers alive. But not anywhere close to the likes of Nas and others.

Put lil wayne infront of the American Idol judge panel and leave HipHop forever alone.

don't mention his name next to Common, or WuTang, or Nas , or JayZ.

I totally agree with you! Lil Wayne is not that nice and members of the group Hot Boys, with the exception of Juvenile, was not that hot either( I can't stand Birdman).

He is no where close. Nas, Common, Lupe, Mos Def, Kanye, etc. could tear him apart. Even on a freestyle which he is supposedly soooo good at.

Actually... who is lil wayne.
