Was it against you? Regardless once the charge has been levied there is not much that can be done. You could argue until you are blue in the face with the DA and get nothing. You could do the same with the judge with the same result. That is because typically later women say "he is a good man and I love him" even though he resorts to violence at any level.

So they err on the side of assuming he is guilty. If he is the sort to do it once it may happen again. And if they let him go if something worse happened later the state could be held liable. Even if it was someone other than you, you and children would be taken into consideration.

The courts again take the stance that such a man is a danger regardless of the circumstances as MEN do not hit or even threaten women. You walk away until things settle. Even if not why was this all going on when the police showed up? Not being preachy but just letting you know what they think. I am in my 40s and have never had occasion to hit a women.

You should have been more specific. But things can be done to get it reduced or for him to get probation. Yes an attorney, even a cheap one would be the way to go. Either way he should call whomever in the county and look into anger management, domestic violence (if applicable). If it was you there are things you can do with him as well in that respect. If drinking was involved he should hit AA.

The judge will order these sorts of things anyway so best to do it and be able to show that he is making steps now.

You can't--unless you're a college decreed attorney that is approved by your state's law bar association to pratice criminal law.

You can hire an attorney (a pricey option) and he has the right to free counsel (not much better an option). And if he's innocent, he has nothing to sweat about: the facts will come out in the hearing / trial.

But if he's really guilty of the offense--why are you wanting him to be found innocent???

According to Robert Vaughn, all you need to do is call 1-800-LAWYERS. If you can't believe Napoleon Solo, then who can you believe?
