1.Do the dishes regularly.
2. Wipe down your kitchen counters with bleach water every night.
3. Clean your room and pick up food wrappers.
4.Seal door sills, window sills, and mend broken screens.
5.Mop floors with bleach regularly.
6.Put food and leftovers (especially sweets) in proper containers.
7.Take out the trash as often as possible.
or
1. Make sure all the food in your house is sealed, so that the ants can't get to it. Be relentless about this for 3-7 days. The ants, having nothing to eat, will go elsewhere. This works because the ants are following the chemical trails left by other ants, who DID find food.
2. Use laurel leaves to keep the ants away from a specific place. Put laurel in your sugar can. You will be amazed!
3. Use chalk to keep ants away from kitchen areas. You will be amazed to see how they move away from any chalk lines - make sure you plan these carefully however.
4. You can also use corn meal. This method is especially great around pets or children, as corn meal by itself is not poisonous. The ants will carry it home and try to eat it, but they can't digest it properly. Be sure to put corn meal wherever you see that the ants like to frequent.
* Put out Cream of Wheat. Don't cook it first. The ants eat it, it expands, boom!

The Borax sugar solution might bring every ant in the neighborhood over for a week or two. Stores like Home Depot sell a grainy powder, (almost like a fertilizer), it's ant food/bait. Sprinkle it around the border of your house. About 6 inches away from it. They will take it back to the nest. It works for other bugs too, and it's not gonna attract a thousand more. It didn't wash away in the rain for us either. If you have pets that go out, sprinkle it right against the house in a thinner layer in the areas they would go. We used this stuff and the ants were gone in 2 days. Use this before summertime next year for a preventitive solution too!
For the ants inside, I squirted them with kitchen cleaner, & windex at times, then vaccuumed them up. You can sprinkle baby powder around ants you see to contain them in one spot for you, so you can kill them. Just remember, keep killing the ones inside, but the queen will keep sending more, so border the outside. Make sure there isn't food/liquids laying out for them.
If you have carpenter ants, I reccommend the pain in the butt fogging technique. And border the house. They are harder to get rid of, I think. Fogging your house sucks, but if they are REALLY bad, you may have to.

Have you heard about Crazy Lines. It's a chalk. You can just encircle wherever you find ants. You may add some chilly powder for a taste. Spread it all over and the at the entrance point of ants. You will have marvelous results.

Dear andy,
1- Place all the sweet items within water .
2- Place all the edible items like wheet, coconuts, all the nuts safe so that ants cannot reach them easily.
3- Turmeric powder be placed as a line around the edible items will help them away. It will act as an ant repeller.
thanks

OK this might sound ludicrous but encircle your home in chalk, I know, I know it's an old wives tale but I have seen it work many times before, ants base their movements on scent right? Well imagine stealing that scent and hiding it....get the idea? Other things to consider if you have food laying around everywhere clean that up, any sugary things they love....disinfect those areas. Scent is the key to fending them off.

increase your border guards , add fences and deport the illegal entries .... if that doesn't help try poison or boric acid along the perimeters that they travel and entry points .
