Not all of us Americans travel. The cost, the planning, and trying to fit it on their average day-to-day life schedule's is pretty tough.. A lot of people here are immigrants, and tend to travel back to their home countries. I'm half Japanese and half Australian, and every summer we go to Japan and Australia and spend some time there. Other people like traveling as a hobby, or as a leisure.. Travelling can be quite fun at times when you're going to new places and exploring.. but once in a while it's always good to be home.. Yeah oh and the prices like you mentioned, pretty expensive..hotels, food, equipment/needed items/ and souveniers if you want, and most of the times locals charge foreigners more.. (yes we all know that! don't get us fooled, some people even may do that here, lol)

But America hosting lots of people from other countries, that would name a lot of countries and cultures traveling.. My friend from China lives here and they travel to Hawaii a lot. They love going there and swimming and doing all kinds of activities..

I guess it's just the personalities of people.. But even travelling could mean walking to the busstop or getting the mail! You're traveling from where you are, and your destination is that special place you want to reach. Presto. Voila. And there we have it.. =)

Many people in America do not travel either. Some because of cost restrictions. Others just choose not to. I generally see more Canadians and Australian's than Americans on the road. But you have to remember. There are China towns in just about every major city in the world. At some point in time the Chinese have obviously traveled!

I live in America but I am originally from the Philippines. I travel every year. There are Americans who like to travel and there are those who never want to leave the comforts of their homes. Almost all of my officemates have traveled this summer but they just traveled within America. One is in France right now as I am typing this. I am traveling to China and hopefully other countries this coming October. Yes, traveling can be tiring and costly but I must say it is worth it. I love seeing other countries and I love seeing people and different cultures.

Most americans are terrified of travelling outside the US.
The american media have hyped the "dangers" to such an extent, they believe they will be murdered/mugged as soon as they step off the plane. Its a pity because most of them are nice people unlike their politicians.
