Sadness to me is an emotion of not having control over something.
You can't "beat" sadness, it's a part of life, but you can get through it by accepting what ever caused the sadness.

I roll a newspaper and beat it!

To be serious, sadness is faced through reason. Start thinking objectively and as clear as you can, talk with someone you know he/she loves you.

It varies, sometimes my family help me beat it, just seeing my nieces and nephews will put a smile on my face and they always make me feel special!! A lot of times my friends here will chase it away, there a few special ones here that know how to make me smile!!

Oh that's easy. You just take a cane or a stick (cane is preferred) and if you close your eyes and concentrate real ... real hard, you will see your sadness. then, just take that stick and whack the sadness outta your head
