Well, it sounds like it worked. Mind over matter.. There is no reason to think otherwise unless it comes back later and won't go away. If you're dead set against meds, try st. Johns wort (all natural) and flaxseed oil or fish oil and of course a vitamin. You need all your nutrients to keep your brain firing properly. GL:)

Take it from someone who has dealt with depression off and on for about 13 yrs. now. Ignoring it is a short-term help but whatever is causing the depression will bring it on again. I've learned that depression is like alcoholism or quitting smoking. You have to take it day by day. There are days when you'll feel great. Maybe even months. It's a constant fight to keep your head above water. I've learned that when I'm having a really bad day, I either call my psychologist or a good friend, talk over what's upsetting me, analyze the situation and then find something about the day that makes me feel happy again, whether it be something funny the cat does or working on a favorite hobby. I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't avoid it. It won't always go away just because you tell it to.

Khristina,
I'd have to say, it depends on the source of your depression. Is it caused by emotional sources, say a broken romance, or physical sources? If you don't know for sure, see a doctor for a correct diagnosis. Then you can see if "talk therapy" or medicine, or a combination of both are the best way for you to go about healing yourself.
By the way, only some antidepressants cause problems. It's also a little different for each person. A good psychiatrist will be able to sort out the challenges for you. And don't be afraid to tell him or her that you would like to avoid medicines if at all possible.
