where can i get one- tried petco. told the lady i wanted a pet snail and she shot me this look like i was insane... where can i get one?

You might have to look around a bit on line and find a private person who has them.
The giant African land snails are actually illegal in all of the U.S because of their potential as an agricultural pest. I don't know how strictly it is enforced but the big chain stores likely won't have them for that reason.

Helix Aspersa are perfect sized and the government won't squish them if they get found!

i have three giant african land snails...well not giant at the moment ,about the size of my thumb nail as they are only a month old,but you may have trouble finding some as they are illegal in some countries as they can destroy crops.
