Do we treat the Sun as singular or as plural?

SUNRISE is one word, referring to dawn; SUNSET is also one word.
The sun rises in the east.

Sun is singular--in our solar system anyway. If some galaxy way off beyond what we know of has more than one sun, only then is it plural. :)

You can also refer to Sunrise as a noun.

Sunrise is in the east.

Its depends on how you use it in a sentence, like the word lead.
