6 month olds do not need juice. Fresh fruits are much better- bananas and peaches are good firsts.

According to a pamphlet put out by Nestle He should be having 3-5 feedings of formula (24-32 oz daily). He can have wheat cereal and mixed cereal, IF he has had both separately. (2 feedings a day of 2-5 tbsp each), 4-6 tbsp of veggies daily, fruits 6-7 tbsp, and unsweetened fruit juice (Only give baby juice, such as Gerber) 2-4 oz daily. It also says that juice is not necessary for the nutrition of infants and toddlers because too much can stop them from drinking the amount of breast milk or formula they need.

What you are doing with the baby food and formula is good. With the fruit juice with your son is drinking water there is no need to give him fruit juice. (if you do give him juice make sure its baby juice). Also with the drinks try giving it to him in an non spill proof cup to get him used to drinking from something else other then a bottle. But make sure it is spill proof so that he can get used to it as the spillproof cups tend to be to hard from them to suck out of. My son is 7 months old and has formula and baby food. For breaky I usually give him banana or vanilla custard or apples and oats. For lunch i give him either banana or vanilla custard or something else like fruit etc. Dinner is pureed vegetables etc. You can add more things into his diet just make sure as you do only give him one new food a day incase he has a reaction or that food makes his constipated you know what food is doind that to him.

my son is 6 months and i give him anything that is nutritious! i make a lot of his own food, like squash, zuccini, avocados (good for skin believe it or not), Green beans, ANY VEG. I am actually trying to introduce my son to the sippy ( he has VERY good small motor skills) so i have put a very little bit of juice mixed with a lot of cold water in his sippy, anout less than a 1/4) he takes to it pretty well. I buy the juice for babies (kids), but YOU are his mommy, you kow whats best for him, and what he can handle!

As far as I know ,until he gets some teeth, he will only be introduced to soft foods, and juices , and if you do try other foods make sure it is very soft and nothing he will be able to get choked on. there are a large selection of baby foods
on market , so, it won't be long your baby can enjoy other things too! Good luck and God bless!

Anything that won't upset his stomach, require chewing, or be hard to swallow should be fine...
Applesauce is a good one, or any kind of mushed up fruit...
