I'm looking for a fairly recent estimate for a ride from the airport to anywhere on the Las Vegas strip...

This is the official LV taxi authority site
http://www.taxi.state.nv.us/faresfees.htm

There is an explanation of the fares & fees along with a chart showing the "approximate" fare to different locations.

Depending on traffic the fare should be around $10-$12 to the South strip hotels and $13-$16 for the North end of the strip. It cost me $12 from the Orleans to McCarran but that was early in the morning(5am) and without the $1.20 McCarran fee.

It's a good idea to write down the TA phone number, just in case the cabbie tries to cheat(long haul) you
1-702-668-4000
If you feel you have been cheated, call the TA from the cab before you pay the fare - A cabbie can get fined heavily and have his license suspended for cheating.

There are quite a few "free hotel shuttles" in LV but there is not one that runs from McCarran to the strip.

The local CAT or RTC Maryland Parkway bus 109 to South Strip Terminal (SST) goes by McCarran. 2.50 US for an all day pass.

Taxi cabs, limos, and shuttles are also available.

Depending on where you are staying, and if you asked, the hotel will pick you up in a limo.

There are also shuttles that go straight to the Strip or the Downtown Area for about five to six dollars

Taxi are not the best option, but they will take you where you want to go.

If you want me to, let me know and I could buy local Monorail tickets for you for just a buck.

It will save you some money and help avoid the crowds.

A shuttle is probably the best bet there are a few companies right outside the terminal offering them about $7-8 1 way or $15 return. A cab would be up to $20.00

Depends on which hotel for the price. I was there 3 weeks ago, and it cost me just under $12 to get to from McCarren to New York New York. Something like the Stratosphere and anything on the far end of the strip would be in the $20 range.

A Taxi should cost you around $16 (airport to strip)

About $20.00, w/out tip.

By the way, you usually have to wait in a long line at the airport to catch the cab.

To avoid the cab line, book a limo to pick you up. May cost $10.00 more than a cab, but may be worth it to avoid the line.

Good luck in Vegas.

There are also tons of shuttles that will take you to any hotel on the strip cheaper than a taxi. Just go to ground transportation and see whats there.

Not much approx. 20 buck + tip to far end.
Limo is 50+tip, don't do that one, just not worth it.
Taxi's usually take the back ways and ride isn't long.
The lines at the airport may look long, but they go quickly.

You don't need to take a cab, get on a shuttle bus going to one of the casino's, they're free and you only need to tip them. They run every 15 minutes.
