I am 2 months along, and have been researching this question myself before I can ask my doctor at my first prenatal appt.

Here is the info. I found from the March of Dimes website:

Most experts agree that small amounts of caffeine (equal to about one to two 8-ounce cups of coffee a day) appear safe during pregnancy. The safety of larger amounts is controversial. Some studies suggest that high caffeine intake (equal to about 3 or more cups of coffee a day) may increase the risk of miscarriage and of having a low-birthweight baby (less than 5½ pounds). However, there is no solid proof that caffeine causes these problems. Until more is known, women should limit their caffeine intake during pregnancy.

Most experts believe that consuming less than about 300 mg of caffeine (the amount in about two 8-oz. cups of brewed coffee or about seven 12-ounce sodas) per day appears safe in pregnancy (2).

Hope this helps, and don't forget to ask your doctor!

Caffeine is the most frequently used drug during pregnancy. When taken in small amounts (up to 150 mg daily) in tea, coffee, cola drinks, or chocolate, caffeine is considered safe for the developing fetus. Even larger doses of caffeine have not been shown to cause fetal malformation.1 However, experts caution pregnant women to keep their caffeine use below 300 mg a day.2

Pregnant women who ingest more than 300 mg daily have a higher rate of miscarriage. Further research is under way to confirm whether caffeine is the direct cause of miscarriage.
Caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it makes you urinate more often. This can cause you to lose important minerals, including calcium.
Caffeine can interfere with sleep for both you and your fetus.
Your best bet is to avoid caffeine or reduce your consumption during pregnancy to the equivalent of 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day. The table below can help you compare caffeine content in several drinks and in chocolate:

Milligrams of caffeine

Item
Typical
Range**

Coffee (8 fl oz)

Brewed, drip method 85 65–120
Brewed, percolator 75 60–85

According to recent studies and all of my OB/GYNS 2-3, 8oz cups of regular coffee are safe amounts to consume.

Don't listen to the ones that say "None". They obviously have not read up on the recent studies or talked to their OB/GYN. When I was pregnant with my son I had my 2 cups of coffee an hour before my ultra sound and his heart rate was no different than my previous ultra sounds. He is no more hyper than any other 3 year-olds.

2-3 cups of coffee a day, max. soda, maybe 3 or 4. they say you should never go over 300 mgs a day if you are expecting. there are about 100 mg of caffeine in the average cup of coffee.

So some may kill me for being honest, but oh well.

I drink whatever I want. I drink ONE dark cola a day, and then I'm pretty dependant on Diet Mountain Dew. I have MAYBE...one Starbucks drink every other week.

This is my 2nd pregnancy. My first son was born 1349% healthy.

my doc told me to take my pre-pregnancy caff. intake and split in half. So if you drank 2 cups of coffee and 2 sodas make it 1 cup coffee and 1 can soda. If yo drank an extremely high amount of caff. before getting pregnant you might want to talk to your doc about it.

Usually I've read that it's ok to have one caffienated drink per day. An extra is probably fine too, but I just stick to no more than one.

Best if none, 1 or 2 if you're really desperate. Remember, whatever you take in gets to baby too.
