Ok, in High school I took A.P classes and I had a 2.7 GPA and raised it up to a 3.7 GPA in the end of High school, I worked hard for it. I was accepted to a university and everything was going good until my parents told me not to go far. They said if I dont listen to them, that God will send curses and I will probably die.

I listened to them and went to a community college. I was unhappy going there, thinking that I earned getting accepted to the university...and nothing. Now, my parents tell me to get out and just start to work. I cant take it anymore, its like depression! I was looking through and saw a school in Miami because it really interested me.

Im thinking about dropping all of my community college courses, and just work full time so I can save money and move to a community college in Miami while I establish residency. I cant take this anymore.
What should I do?
Drop corses and save money?

Whats your opinion?
In my shoes, what would you do?

That is really great that you were accepted into a university. And that you applied yourself and raised your GPA. As for God sending curses...It doesn't work that way. God is a loving and just God. He doesn't send lightning from the sky to strike when we mess up or don't listen to our parents. But, your parents are your God given authority. I personally would stick it out. I would seek out God's will on the issue at hand. There are many times when we don't understand why but we are stronger because we are found faithful. If you step out from under your parents authority or covering then yes, anything can happen. Not that God will strike you but there can be a myriad of things that could go wrong, and unfortunately, God gets blamed for them. I am not sure what your home life is like or if you can talk with your parents to find out why they are opposed to the university you were accepted to. I was in your shoes and my parents didn't let me go to a school that was on the other end of the country but now I know that life would not be what it is today because I chose to obey my parents. Ultimately, it isn't about us but about Him. I would seek God on what His plan for your life is and live it out. I will keep you and your situation in prayer. God bless.

I guess you are dependent on your parents to pay for your college???? if not, apply to whatever 4 year school you want to go, apply for your own college loan (you CAN especially if you are 18 or over now)... and do what you want- I am not sure why your parents are threatening you with DEATH if you leave home to go to college, but that is CRAZY....you have to do what is best for YOU and your future.... a 4 year degree would most certainly be best... HOWEVER, going to the community college for the first 2 years IS less expensive then going to the 4 year college and in most cases, every credit you earn in community college is transferrable to the 4 year degree program of a university depending on your major .....

Well your in a tough place buddy. I had problems with parents too. First ask yourself. Do you have any money saved up?
Can i live by myself?

If they're saying crap like that to you, there's a few things to do. Sue them for extreme abuse lol. You live in America, you can sue for anything. Tell them that if God's gonna kill you, your taking them to hell with you. (That might make things worse). Find their weakness and exploit it. Uhh, just ignore them completely and spend as much time as possible away from them.. That may only work for so long though. The next is get as far away as possible from them. move out, find a roommate. Start a new life.

God will never kill you... if you believe in God. Just incase you didn't already know lol.

Your parents behaviour is bizarre & unbalanced!
What background or culture did they come from?
Maybe they were concerned about paying for board.
You don't say how you are paying for college now.
Do you work part-time? Or are your parents paying?
Their attitude might indicate they are short of money.
With a good grade average you can get a grant.
But you should really be doing the best you can.
Dropping out could waste a lot of time & money.

First of all, kudos to you honey, for raising your GPA a full point! Good job!

Debt sucks... but if I were you, I would try to get back into the original university, and sign up for loans. Get away from your parents. I know nothing of your home life, but what they are doing to you is not fair.

I'm not sure what your religion is either, but God will not curse you for going to college to better yourself for your future.

Psalm 27:1 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

Don't be afraid. Trust in yourself, trust in God, and do what you need to do to be truly happy. Even if that means disobeying your parents.

One question, What did God say? I don't think that God will curse you for following your hearts desire. But if unsure take a good couple of hours and ask God, ask a counselor, ask a friend. Ask someone else than your parents. I don't know why they are telling you this, but tell them that it is stressing you out.
That is what I would do if I were in your shoes.

I love community college but it sounds like what you really need is to get the heck away from your parents. If I were you, I'd move far away and attend whatever school I could. Get your degree and your own life!

I would try to get away from my parents at any cost...or punch them in the face. But I don't think that'll work too good. I'd finish out the college then work, move out, then see what financial aid I could apply for. That is what I do.

Well its obvious your parents are a bit out there, so stop listening to them.

This is YOUR LIFE, YOU need to decide what to do with it.

Since you are unhappy there, go to someplace where you are happy. Work full time and go to a community college (FAR FAR from your parents clutches).

Good luck.

Like h b said, God doesn't communicate to you thru your parents. Do what you think is best. Respect your parents, talk to them. Remind them how you EARNED your good grades and how you are starting you're own life and its time for YOU to make the choices. Talk to them, take them out. Explain that you are ready to decide for yourself.
Good Luck!
