The ending is kind of a limbo, where the autistic guy got out of the maze. What was that?

It was a pretty good movie up until the frustrating-as-hell ending. I can't figure out what the ending was supposed to mean either. I saw about 5 minutes of the sequel on SciFi channel and they were talking about some robotics or computer corporation being behind the Cube. I only saw that and turned it off.

No clue. It kind of pissed me off. I'm afraid to see the sequel because I'm afraid it's going to be another open ending. I wanted to know what the hell it was all about. What was it's purpose, who built it? Why were those people chosen? Are these answers in the sequel or what? It drove me crazy.
