It's unlikely. Martial law can't be declared unless there's invasion or insurrection. A terror attack is neither.

That's the current bet -- the only issue is whether then next terror attack will happen before or after the election, but while he's still in office.

At this point, I would be (pleasantly) surprised if we made it to the normal 8~9 year gap between attacks.

well, apparently it's written into the "Patriots" Act that he can do so ... even without Congressional approval.

but for all their unscrupulous power grabbing aggressiveness i doubt the neoCONs will attempt such a move, tho it would be a perfect time. few times in our country's history have the American citizenry been so divided within itself and so many Americans cheerfully dumbed down and far too willing to give up their rights and liberties for the illusion of increased safety..

not likely unless theres mass hysteria and people are looting etc. If mass chaos occurs then he might take a stab at dictatorship.

After all wasnt it GWB that said this would be alot easier if it were a dictatorship.

I don't think he will. But Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Shumer and Hillary may invite the terrorists over for dinner or give them a seat on DNC if they do it in such a way to increase socialism

Only if there are riots and looting. Solves one problem...getting rid of the scum. However, depending on what gets hit, there could be curfews and checkpoints...wise precautions.
