I am becoming close with a girl who is almost 16 and I am over 18. Her mother disapproves of her being with me, but we have no desire to have sex. We are just very, very close. What power does her mother have over me after my friend turns 16? I am trying to somehow get her mother to understand as well since I already said sex is NOT an issue. I just am afraid of the legal consequences that I can face. Again, I AM NOT trying to challenge the system or her mother. Two other mothers of her friends understand this ordeal and they both love me. Can someone please help me??

Until her daughter reaches 18, she is under the jurisdiction of her parents, and her parents can stop her from seeing you or meeting with you or talking to you or whatever. This is regardless of the age of consent.

I suggest you be very gentle, and get to know her mother well, and show her that you mean the best for her. Then go as far as she lets you.

her CHILD is 15 NOT 16 YET and therefore her mother has a LOT of influence and can say or do whatever SHE THINKS IS RIGHT FOR HER DAUGHTER until her DAUGHTER becomes the age of conscent...even THEN, if the daughter is living under her MOTHER's house, and her mother is supporting her 100%, the mother STILL has a say in what happens with HER DAUGHTER until the child is OUT OF THE HOUSE.... If I had a 20 year old daughter living in my house, she would obey MY HOUSE RULES if she planned on living off ME in MY HOUSE. Why not stop rocking the boat and waiting until she IS over the age of conscent and even THEN NO SEX until she is a HECK OF A LOT OLDER then just 16!!!!!!! You kids have no idea what you are getting into-----you won't know until you become parents yourself---HOPEFULLY NOT TOO EARLY IN YOUR OWN LIFE... .

She can file a restraining order on behalf of her daughter until she turns 18, so your best bet is to back off and let the girl alone. Someone mentioned that the girl can defy her mother and run off to see you but that isn't going to help you gain points.

You are not going to make her mother understand and you really probably need to just let her be and reconnect when she's 18 - no matter your intentions. The attention now is just clearly causing problems in her home and you may think her mom is a jerk but she is the parent.

Her mother has the power to tell her she can not see you anymore. The daughter also has the power to rebel just as easily.

Since there is no sexual conduct in your scenario no laws are even close to being broken.

When she turns of age and consents her mother can't do anything to stop you.
