Denie:

Where is the usual TV viewing position? Now go to that chair or couch, remove the cushions and start checking down the SIDES and BACK of that thing....push down hard on the seat portion where the cushion sits and then slip your hand down and feel all the way around, right down to the bottom. If there is an opening that goes all the way through to the inside of the thing, turn it over and look to see if the remote has fallen through.

We have had both scenarios happen here, even though I am trying to train everyone else to put the remote back where it belongs.

(And all the money you find will be a bonus!)

We have one of those carousel things that holds remotes for the cable box, tv, dvd player and it sits on the console in between our sofa and recliner. Now that we are all "trained" to put the remotes back we don't have a problem losing them any more. While we are using the cable remote it never leaves table so doesn't get lost.
Same thing in the bedroom, I just keep it on the desk beside the bed.

nMy friend has dropped the remote in the sofa, however, it fell in the crack between the arm and the bottom of the sofa, beneath the cushions. She reached down to extract it and her arm was caught in between. She was holding her infant granddaughters and couldn't move. Her son was gone for over an hour, she was stuck like that. When he got home to take the baby, her had had swollen so badly that they had to take the sofa apart to get her hand out.

Moral of the story, have multiple remotes! A remote finder would be great too!

I don't know if this is true or one of those urban myths - but - the story goes that one of those huge people one hears of that have to be lifted out of their houses by cranes - actually got into the hospital and in among the folds and creases and pleats of flesh was the remote control that they had not seen in ages!

I hope it's not true!

Mines gone missing and I ain't going looking for it there!

we kept the remotes from the previous t.v.s. since they are all the same manufacturer the remotes all work. may not have all the features, but as long as i can change the channels, i'm fine. we have 2 for bedroom and 2 for living room

I'm always losing mine too, so I looked it up and they actually do make a remote control locator. Go to:
http://www.gadgetbargains.com/

and where it says 'search' at the top put in 'remote control locator' and hit 'go'. Of course, I'd probably lose this too. lol

I actually have a backup. Fortunately I rarely lose the remote but it always seems to happen when there is a documentary I have been waiting for weeks to see.

No but I saw a show on tv that says that there will be brain implants shortly that will allow you to take the remote with you!
