okay here's a little more detail so you know what shape im currently in:
I can run 3 miles in 23-28 minutes, depending on how lazy i feel :) but i can also sprint a 100m in 13 seconds. So basically all my strength is in my legs but I have a pretty strong core too.

Boot camp got me into shape. I was pretty out of shape prior to joining. Didn't do anything prior to entering.

You could always start doing pushups now and get used to them :)

Okay, no worries..when I first wanted to join the military I could barely do 5 correct push-ups ( arms proportionate to the rest of your body, face foward, not down) and I went to Basic Training and the 1st PT I was able to 40 something with no worries, when you come into Basic, the Drill Sergeants will be conditioning your body , so you'll be able to do alot of things you couldn't before, so don't sweat it.

i come across the strikes of McClellan irrelevant to the war. to talk approximately struggling with and to truly combat are 2 diverse animals. McClellan became an incredibly stable organizer yet he had the help of congress and the president, he did no longer ought to look ahead to aspects like his opposite numbers in the different aspects of the country. the faster strikes interior the west examined that the Union military became able to struggling with whilst correct lead. McClellan in basic terms lacked the intestinal fortitude. The became little distinction interior the overall performance of the army whilst it replaced palms Brunside, Hooker. i do no longer think of it mattered, i think of any of the greater youthful Generals could have been waiting to do an identical. after all furnish started the war as a unemployed shop clerk that as quickly as became a considerable interior the army and he did no longer do to undesirable.

there is no such thing as in shape with the army. if you want to get into shape and kick some *** join the MARINES, plus in the marines you go into the d.e.p. program and they will work with you to help you get physically in shape before bootcamp starts.but if all else fails and you do go to the army get acouple of 5 and 10 pound dumb bells and start doing curls and military presses with them. steadily make your way up from a fast paced walk to a jog till you can go a mile and a half in 15 minutes

If you know what your minimum requirements are,the join a gym with someone who can motivate you.You just have to build up those muscles that are required to get you there.Keep doing lots of pushups, the more the better.
