Isn't that pretty much like Canada in world war 2 sending soldiers to Europe or for that matter, the USA sending weapons to england before formally entering world war 2? I mean if the Nazis had invaded Mexico, would the USA not have it in its own self interest to help out our southern neighbors as much as possible to try to make sure the nazi imperialist ambitions were deterred??

Iran is -- at worst -- one of most of a dozen countries selling or giving arms to various factions within Iraq -- including the US, Britain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.

So, we are deciding whether to attack them based -- almost solely -- on the fact that we don't like them, and they say things which bother us -- and that they refuse to let foreign inspectors into their military bases -- which neither we nor Britain nor Israel will do either.

Hardly the most compelling justification for starting WW3.

I think a more apt analogy for Iran's behavior would be the Germans instigating bombings and terrorism in Austria and the Sudetenland as a pretext to invasion. If Iran had an interest in helping their neighbors and getting the U.S. to reduce their presence in the region, they would work for stability in the region.

It would be very difficult for Bush to justify unpopular deployments to Iraq if it was stable....conversely, it is very easy for him to push the U.S. towards war with Iran when the Iranians are guilty of very provocative actions.

So I do blame Iran for sending weapons to Iraq. They aren't helping anyone by sending weapons to Iraq.

I don't blame them a bit, and I'd happily shoot anybody I found smuggling in a rocket to shoot at me if I were over there. Understanding their point of view and tolerating it are not connected in any way.

Blame? No. They are struggling to get the upper hand, that is human nature. We have to slap them back down, that also is human nature.
