Sexy Rexy has become Hexed Rex -- and the Chicago Bears aren't the only ones feeling vexed.

Las Vegas bookmakers share their pain.

The erstwhile Monsters of the Midway were 3 to 3 1/2-point favorites in their nationally-televised Sunday night game versus the rejuvenated Dallas Cowboys, a/k/a America's Team, but left the building at intermission after going into the break tied 3-3.

Chicago quarterback Rex Grossman blew up in the second half and threw three interceptions as Dallas (3-0)blew away the Bears 34-10 to stay undefeated under new Coach Wade Phillips.

The defending NFC champs dipped to 1-2.

Cowboys signal caller Tony Romo was 22 of 35 for 320 yards, while Grossman was 15 of 32 for 195 yards with the trio of interceptions.

"Everything we won in the morning and afternoon we lost at night," Robert Jaynes, the Stratosphere Tower's race and sports director, lamented.

"Dallas is a popular public team -- not that the Bears aren't, especially coming off a season in which they played in the Super Bowl.

"But they're still not the Cowboys.

"Dallas also has looked better so far this year."

Dallas parlays and teasers won big for players.

"It's a good thing Green Bay upset San Diego," Jaynes continued.

"That was a huge win for the house.

"We get a lot of people from California and they like to play the Chargers.

"If San Diego hadn't have lost, we would've ..."

The City with Big Shoulders is going to have to have some pretty broad ones if Chicago continues to tote the burden of Grossman around much longer.

The situation has gotten so bad that one TV commentator noted something to the effect that the former University of Florida star probably was booing himself on the inside.

The big breeze in the Windy City right now concerns what Chicago Coach Lovie Smith's next move regarding Grossman will be.

Surprisingly, as of Monday night, Bodog Sportsbook's clever oddsmaking crew hadn't yet posted a "What Will Happen to Rex Next?" proposition.

Stratosphere Tower Race and Sports Director Robert Jaynes looks for Lovie to stick with Grossman as he has in the past, rather than turn to Brian Griese, son of former Miami great Bob Bob.

"He'll ride it out with him, just as he's done before," Jaynes predicted.

"Lovie's not going to go in and jerk him out, though I do have to agree he (Grossman) is pulling rhe other players down because he's not carrying his share."

Professional Handicappers League member Bill Fishman concurs, though he believes Smith will drag the process out, if only for appearances sake.

"I feel Coach Smith has to just sit back and reevaluate things," Fishman said.

"When he does, I feel he stays with Grossman because he does have an upside.

"Griese is not the answer, though I may be wrong.

"It's just my opinion."

Jimmy Boyd thinks it's time for Griese to take charge.

"If you're Lovie, you have to go to Griese at this point," Boyd said.

"I just don't see Grossman playing with any confidence.

"I think Griese will at least make better decisions with the football than Rex."

Nebraska PHL member Jerry Johnson sums up things rather succinctly:

"It's time to sit Rex down for a while; he looks like a deer in the headlights."

Many bet shops got slapped with a pair of pushes on Sunday as 6-point choice Indianapolis skipped past Houston 31-24 and the 3-point favorite New York Jets topped Minnesota 31-28.

Jaynes reported some late night losses Saturday hurt the Stratosphere in the colleges.

"UNLV winning wasn't good.

"Alabma and Georgia pretty much was split.

"That's how it has been on Saturday all season.

"Nothing real lopsided, everything fairly balanced."

Virginia upsetting Georgia Tech and Michigan beating Penn State were big wins for Bodog Sportsbook, while the offshore book's bettors did well with Oregon crushing Stanford and Clemson knocking off North Carolina State by 22.

As with its stateside counterparts, Bodog, did very well on the Packers. Players had a nice day with Pittsburgh and Carolina.

The consensus was 8-5-2 overall, though Capt. Hook, as noted, influenced several decisions, depending on location.

He does make piles of money, and he'd be the backup on a lot of teams, but his inconsistency is to a fairly large degree because of poor blocking and dropped passes, both of which happened again tonight too often.

Grossman won a 5A state championship his senior year at Bloomington South, so I think I'd at least take him on my high school team

No he shouldnt be a starter for any football team I wouldnt have him on my hight school team. As far as the money goes he should have to pay the NFL like we do and sit in the stands and watch the games

why would I feel sorry?

He's getting paid millions to throw the ball to the other teams, heck I can do that for only $10.
