I have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes but I haven't changed my diet yet my sugars are perfect. I have been testing my sugars 4 to 6 times a day. This is very confusing to me and devasting because I was going to have my baby in a birth center and have a water birth but now I can't because of the Gestational diabetes. I am devasted:(

It's rare for there to be a misdiagnosis. I'm sorry your birth plan has to change, but it's in the best interest of the baby, as he/she will have to have their sugar levels monitored closely right after birth. Alos, many of us have planned out what kind of birth we were going to have, just to get there and everything turn out differently lats minute. This happened to me and I was upset too, but in talking to many women find that it's normal and just a preview of what's to come with a baby, not having much control and all that.

GD has often been overly diagnosed which is why they came up with the 3 hour glucose. So if two out of the three (after you drank the glu-cola) came out high then you DO have GD. You should check into how you were diagnosed if you do not know because some doctors DO NOT use this as a guideline. I just recently had mine done and luckily I only had an elevated one at the one hour and only one of the tests during the 3 hour was elevated.

Your blood sugar will come and go, your body may be regulating itself at the moment, but that does not mean that you will not have complications later. I would keep going the way the doctors have advised you and if you have any concerns as to whether you were diagnosed right, get a second opinion, but you will have to take the 3 hour again I am sure. And we all know how much hell that is. So it's your decision. Some hospitals have the equipment to do water births (unless your baby is growing too large to be delivered vaginally due to the diabetes). But it isn't worth the risk to not have a full staff for the baby if your baby's blood sugar is really low due to yours being high.

Gestational Diabetes Misdiagnosis

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

There is a lot of stuff on the internet that is basically fat-shaming diabetics for causing their own diabetes with their bad diet and lack of exercise and general lack of moral fibre. A lot of this stuff is written by non-doctors, often with a supplement or diet or training plan to sell that they claim will completely cure diabetes if only people stick to it.

I read this interesting book https://tr.im/gkYSb that gave me a lot of useful tips about my disease and also a different perspective on the best therapeutical approach. I think you should read it too.

I hope it helps

wait a couple of weeks and have the doctor retest you. i was severely gest diabetic and i had to take the test every week or 2. just watch your sugar (dont forget carbs like potatoes are sugar loaded). if they tested me so often i think you can change it by watching your food. no pancakes with syrup, no carbs and no sugar before you take the test. and goodluck !

You could certainly ask your dr. to test again but I do not know of any other options. If they are unwilling to do so after you tell them what's going on, you may consider finding another doctor that will help.

Good luck!
