I am making a "gimmick" for some fans of music entertainers, and wonder where I can purchase the "sticks" not the tongue depressor kind, for making homemade fans. They need to be fairly long and stable, but not popsicle sticks, and I need to buy them in bulk.

I need the sticks to be approximately 6 to 8 inches long and 3/4 to 1 inch wide.

Try an arts and crafts store like "Michael's".

The thing I would do is to purchase the fans at http://www.orientaltrading.com Then I would remove the cover on them, make a pattern out of the paper I removed. Use this pattern to cut out whatever you want to cover them with. The fans are quite inexpensive ( way cheaper than making them ) Since the fans are blank paper, maybe you won't even have to remove the covers. look for item# AX-48/65 They sell for $4.95 per dozen.
