Syria's relationship to Lebanon?

How did Syria impact Lebanon, all I know was that Syria occupied Lebanon for quite a long time.

Anyone of note that disagreed with them died. They're still doing it. Hezbollah is still their puppet. Syria considers Lebanon a province of Syria so is constantly interfering with their governance. Currently, through Hezbollah, they are preventing the Lebanese government from functioning which makes Hezbollah that much stronger. Prior to the Lebanese civil war which many believe was caused by Syria, Lebanon was one of the most modern of Near Eastern countries and its people much better off then most there.
