Isn't today like the past because tomorrow that's exactly what it's going to be.

If we were to forget the past then why does the bible focus on it to. I think we should remember the past as a progression to our future. Because there always has to be a beginning, a middle and en endless amount of endings. The puzzle of our lives would be quite boring if the same happened over and over. That is why we learn from our mistakes and continue to learn different middles, and endings. You cannot walk if you do not learn to crawl. Every step we make is a lesson to another day.

Good question.
But today doesn't become
tomorrow's past until
after it's already happened;
not before.
If today doesn't happen yet,
it's still in the future.
But we cannot forget the past anyhow, because history always
repeats itself.
But what we can forget..are the pains.
What we can forgive..are the people attached to those pain.
This is called: Closure. And closure involves moving on with your life and not getting stuck
somewhere living in the past..
day after day after day. PEACE.

I think that if we forget the past, we will continue to repeat all of our past mistakes, over & over again. Because we all have heard the old saying, "That history repeats itself."
And I believe this to be true. I think that one the the most important things that we can do is: Keep all children safe, mine, yours, the kids down the block, whoever. And by following this link, I think you will understand.
By the way, this is not a religious link. I would never do that to anyone, for it is not my thing; however, this is important.

You're correct. Never thought of it that way. I cannot and will never forget my past, or a few events of it. I wish I could erase some of the memories but I can't.

To paraphrase Laurence Olivier from "The Jazz Singer": "You can't get to where you're going if you don't know where you came from."
