Mine is a matter of hometown-pride:
The second-largest canyon in America is located 20 miles south of Amarillo. It is Palo Duro Canyon. It is roughly half a mile deep and 120 miles long and as much as 20 miles wide. It was carved out by the Prairie Dog Town fork of the Red River. Native Americans are known to have lived in the canyon as far back as 12,000 years ago. Many artifacts from the Native American inhabitants still exist today, and some remain in their original location.
The iconic Lighthouse formation is known around the world and serves as a symbol for the region.
In 1876, Charles Goodnight entered the canyon and opened the JA Ranch. At its peak, the ranch supported more than 100,000 head of cattle. Goodnight operated the ranch until 1890. Although only a fraction of its original size, the JA Ranch remains a working ranch today.
Today, Palo Duro State Park receives well over a half a million visitors annually, from all corners of the world.
Every Summer, from June- August, "TEXAS" a spectacular musical production is staged in the natural Amphitheater. "TEXAS" is known around the world and attracts many visitors who are marvelled by the amazing story of the settling of this most untamed land.
I urge you to find out more about this amazing gem of the Panhandle. Please checkout the Wikipedia article, not only on the canyon, but also on the Llano Estacado. It offers a fascinating glimpse into this sparsely populated region. =)

The saying "Rule of thumb" comes from a law that was actually not taken off the legal books here in the United States until 1953, and was established in the early 1800's; that indicated that a "Man could lawfully beat his wife, livestock or children with a stick or switch no thicker than the width of his thumb" TRUE.

Manhole covers are ROUND... ONLY... for a specific reason...WHY?
It's the ONLY shape that the lid does NOT FALL THROUGH the hole!!!
p.s. Antarctica is "the driest" NOT due to "dry ice," lack of "moisture" or whatnot... it is the driest place because it has the least precipitation ... precipitation includes SNOW as well as rain. Furthermore, since the air is so dry, the snow evaporates into the air... yes, snow can "evaporate" into very dry air...it happens ALL the time here in Wyoming!
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Most people do not know that it takes 20 years of energy to make a solar cell.
in other words: The energy to produce the heat to produce a solar cell is equal to the energy the solar cell will give off over 20 years. Most solar cells do not last 20 years.
So putting them on your roof is STUPID! You are actually producing more CO2 than your are eliminating.
This is a great question, I learned a lot.

If you hold dry spaghetti by each end and snap it, it will break into 3 pieces every time. One of the pieces will be very small and fly away, so you have to watch for it. It doesn't work if you hold a lot of the spaghetti in your hands - just the ends.
