You don't have to be a miath whiz to be a good math tutor, you just have to be able to explain things to the one you're tutoring in a manner that helps them to understand it. An especially good math tutor would for example be able to explain a math concept in several different ways to help a child understand it.

There is a major shortage of math teachers. Here is a question that you may not be able to answer. If you do not take the job will they get someone else who is poorer in math or in teaching techniques than you?
Also how much time are you willing to put into studying and reviewing algebra? Are you able to contact the math teachers so that you know in advance the topics that are being taught?

I don't think you have to be an absolute genius at math but knowing your stuff will really help these students progress in their math studies.
When I was in college, my history teacher was unable to teach that semester. Instead of canceling the class all together, they stuck in a math professor to teach ancient history....disastrous!
Please...consider your options and consider how well versed you are in the subject. A tutor won't do much good if they do not know how to do the problem either.

Honestly, I understand that the money would be nice, but, you have to remember that these students are in a tutorial program soooooooo they really need help. If u are not truly interested in refreshing your memory enough to really be able to assist them then dont do it. It all depends on how much time you have to prepare and your ability to refresh quickly. Im sure they are not doing the same level of Algebra in the same grade as they did when u were in high school unless u just graduated. It really about your inner ability which noone knows but u.

I am not really strong in math either and I have signed up to be a tutor. Before you decide if this position is right for you, try taking online practice exams. Google "example algebra problems", and there may be some sites that have practice problems. Good luck.

To tutor anything, of course one needs to be competent in the subject matter of choice. Besides, if you are tutoring an individual, it's easy enough to find out what you have to teach and perhaps brush up on.
What is far more crucial to the process, however, is knowing how to understand what the student does not understand and even more important, why. Then you must have at your disposal all sorts of methods to present to your charge the material at hand in such a way that he/she can grasp it with the tools already in his/her command.
Good luck.

i did no longer do stable in math in extreme college. I did do stable in physics. when I utilized to the state college for electric engineering i became recommended to be sure on enterprise considerable relatively. I caught to my weapons and did the engineering classes. I worked my butt off first semester and have been given an A in calculus. 3 hundred started the direction and a pair of hundred flunked it so I felt stable approximately myself. i think of the professors have been lots greater motivating and that i by no ability worked so stressful as I did for that A. interior the subsequent a million a million/2 years I took 3 semesters of physics and have been given B in all 3. there became basically one A presented each and each semester so B placed me in real 5%. i got here upon physics much less confusing than math simply by fact it became in basic terms straight forward greater beautiful. So maybe in case you paintings stressful and get inspired you're able to do it. i could propose you to examine as many books as you are able to appropriate to the historic past of the form of arithmetic and additionally physics. I want I were given this suggestion. that's mandatory recognize why each and each branch of arithmetic became invented and what varieties of issues mankind could desire to then clean up.

If you need to ask then that is not a job for you; What are you gonna say when the parents start complaining about you not knowing your stuff?
Of course you don't have to be a super expert but at least you are supposed to be BETTER than GOOD and LOVE the subject you are teaching.

All you really need to do is ensure you prepare well before each class. Do as many problems as you can and prepare solution to all problems you are going to teach.
Yes you need to review your maths.
If you are confident to teach go on ahead.!
Happy teaching.
