I imagine it's probably just one of those weird things that goes away and no biggie...

But my kitchen has never smelled like this before. It's got that sharp smell of nail polish (maybe nail polish remover?) or some cleaning agents. I haven't used any new cleaning stuff, but I did have a ballpoint pen that leaked that I put in my sink while I worried about cleaning up the mess... maybe that's it?

So... does anyone have a clue what this means? Like I said, I realize it's probably nothing, but it'd be a real shame if my house blew up because I didn't recognize the signs.

No, it's a house with a yard... The smell seems to be gone mostly...

you may have a leaking canister of furniture polish or air freshener,or wd~40 in a utility cupboard in the kitchen
have a look and a sniff around the kitchen
and do not use a naked flame in the house or wherever
you smell it strongest, until you have located the source

What Infobod said was good advice, but, do you live an apartment or row house, where 2 houses share a wall? It could be a smell from another apartment or close by house, where somebody did their nails! :)

It definitely was not a ball point pen.

If you have gas appliances call a plumber the smell might be natural gas leaking from one of them. If you don't have gas appliances then tell the little Korean Lady's to get the hell out of your kitchen
