Parrot fish are one of the easiest fish to take care of. They are super hardy. I would recommend at least a 29 gallon to start. Mine have never reproduced. It is very unlikely that they will seeing that parrot fish are actually a mix between a red devil and another fish. I hear that most of them are sterile in fact. I would only be careful not to mix them with other fish that are slow moves or very smaller. Although parrot fish are not overall agressive mine have nipped a few fish that were easy targets before.

They require the same care as other fish-good water quality, right sized tank for them to live in, varied diet, and frequent water changes.

About 98% of male blood parrots are sterile, so the chances of you having a breeding pair are slim to none. The females however, can still lay eggs and go through the motions with the males(or even sometimes they'll pair up with another female).
Mixing them with other fish, depends. Some parrots are great and get along fine, while others are very dominant. Just depends on their individual personality. I would recommend a minimum of a 30 gallon tank for 2, though a larger would be better, since they grow to about 6-8 inches on average. But no less then 30 gallons for 1. Here's a great site/forum to read through with all kinds of info on them:

I have 2 parrot fish in a 20 gallon tank. They are real easy to take care of. I rarely do filter changes and water changes, and they are still 100% healthy. I've had mine for about 5 years. I think they'd get along with any kind of cichlid. Mine even got along with African cichlids.
