I think it's fine to keep thim in Kingdom Protista because:

1. Slime molds are eukaryotic.
2. Like other members of Kingdom Protista, they do not belong in any of the other eukaryotic kingdoms. That's the unifying characteristic of the kingdom. It could be called Kingdom Miscellaneous, and slime molds qualify for being miscellaneous!

This has been a question repeated over the years. I guess a lot depends on whether you are a splitter or a lumper. I prefer to let them stay where they are.
