I recently read an article in the New York Times about prostitues turning to Craigslist instead of the streets. I'd never heard of craigslist but after checking it out, methinks they're onto something. I don't really care either way but I noticed that many of the ads were very careful to state that they would not accept money for sex but that they would accept money for "time/gas" or "donations" or women looking for "generous guys". My question is this: can a women of "questionable repute" offer money for time -- kind of like porn stars get paid for "acting" and go about their trade?

Sure. As long as you don't ask for money in an outright sense. There are many 'massage' services that make house calls as well. For a few extra bucks, you can negotiate anything with them.

It's fairly harmless, in my view. It's victimless crime, and many times the man is just lonely and wants company, or someone to be intimate with. The woman makes a living, and the man is happy. Nothing wrong with that.

well, CAN a woman do that? of course, what CAN'T a person do, unless it is indisputably(if that's a word) impossible? Second, if you mean if it's illegal or not, well prostitution's not legal in the first place. Otherwise I have no clue what you're asking, and if you do not care, why you would post this.

You can charge money for your time, as long as you don't have sex during that time. If you do, then it's prostitution, regardless of how you try to rationalize it. Unless it's on camera, for some reason.

There are legal versions of hookers out there. They are called escorts usualy. You pay for a date that doesnt have to end in sex, but when you pay a few hundred it usualy does.

That is probably close to it but i bet they are just lieing and when the guy calls they ask how much money they want to spend and what hole they want to fill.

It would have to be VERY clear that the money is not for anything sexual. It is a gray area, but most get away with it. If ever someone says "I'll give you $__ for (insert sexual favor)" it becomes illegal.

Just a new way to get around being charged with prostitution. It won't work....

It's still illegal prostitution. If you are offering sex for anything of value it's prostitution.
