I surf the net sometimes until I'm falling asleep at the computer.
I am 14 wks prg and pee a lot(Sorry) so my sleep isn't all that well and won't be for a while. But what I do to TRY to sleep is sometimes lay in bed with a book and read. Or turn the lights off, turn my noisemaker on, lay on my back and breathe in slowly through my nose and exhale slowly through my mouth. Doing that many times helps calm the body.
Also I was told if you're a worrier, have a notebook&pen on nightstand&before you go to sleep write in ALL of your worries, not to leave ANYTHING out! I know of some people that have tried it and it worked. Didn't that well for me.
Drink warm milk (sprinkle of cinnamon). Have a tablespoon of peanutbutter before bed. There's certain chemicals in some foods that are suppose to help you naturally fall asleep.

I usually have problems staying awake. I am a sleeper and I hate getting up and I could sleep like 10 hours a day and take a nap. However, there have been a few rare occasions where I couldn't sleep. I usually just get up and work on stuff until I am tired enough that I can't stay awake.
I also agree with the masturbation people. That seems to really work on guys. My bf always falls asleep right after sex.

I either put on a movie that I've seen a million times, so I can listen to it with my eyes closed, but still know what's going on lol....OR I lay there trying to name all the states, in alphabetical order. If I think of one later in the alphabet that I forgot earlier, I start over. Works every time lmao.
For a sleep aid, try melatonin. But go for the synthetic, rather than natural, as natural comes from animal tissue, and *this grade of melatonin may be accompanied by viruses or proteins that could cause an antibody response*.

The best thing to do is to get out of bed, go into another room, and read a boring article or book, like a maintenance manual. Also, avoid anything stimulating, such as TV, bright lights, caffeine, alcohol (alcohol interferes with sleep cycles), exercise, and work. Writing my thoughts and worries down in a journal often helps me, as does making a to-do list so I can get things out of my mind and onto paper. This keeps reminders and worries off my mind so I can sleep. I also write about things and the names of people I may need to apologize to or forgive so that stuff doesn't keep me awake. I also pray--knowing that God is in charge of the world lets me sleep and let go of the control issues.
Of course, we all have been told the basics, too: keep a regular wake up/go to bed schedule, avoid caffeine after noon, don't exercise, listen to upbeat music, or read/watch anything upsetting before bedtime, establish a regular "going to bed routine" (like change clothes, wash up, brush teeth), and use your bedroom for sleeping and being intimate only. Don't have a television in your bedroom--you don't want to associate your bedroom with anything but rest. Sweet dreams!

I usually get up and read or get on the computer when I can't sleep...and either way, I'm screwed, because that just makes me stay up even longer. I wish I knew some tips to get to sleep. Maybe that way I wouldn't toss and turn for two hours before I actually dose off.

I listen to calming music without a lot a drums or heavy beats and I read a really boring book. Or sometimes I do a lot of Sudoku and usually end up falling asleep with the lights on.

If I just can't get back to sleep, I wake up the Hubby. I usually just visualize a fan spinning round and round and I refuse to open my eyes. My husband really hates it because It works most of the time.

I read or watch t.v.. I'm a night owl so not being able to sleep is a constant problem. Thankfully there are enough boring tv shows to make it easier to get bored and catch a few Zzz's =)

I answer questions in Yahoo! Answers!!! Then I yell at myself, shut off the computer, take 3 aspirins and go read a bit. That usually does it for me!
