I saw something similar on antiques roadshow...really. Don't throw it out until you find out what it is.

To me it doesn't look like just a rock until you look at the third picture. It also depends on where you found the rock/object because if it was where there was once civilization long ago; and it being found in a river could also mean something. Or, not to get your hopes down, it may have just been the way that the water eroded the object. Hope you find out what it is!! :]

You need to take it to a local museum or college. There you can take it to the paleo dept, geology dept or archeology dept. They can tell you what it is.
I can't tell how big it is with out something else in the pic to compare it to. How heavy is it. Dinosaur bones are heavy. It is is fairly large, it could be something the native Americans used for a weapon ( Axe, hammer) or as a tool to make leather strapping soft and pliable. Any number of things. Or it could be a simple geological formation. I use to work in a museum where people would bring in things they found. It was very interesting work. I worked in a paleo lab too preparing field finds for viewing.... Good luck on your research!

it looks like a hip bone , possibly from a dinosaur. but, take it to a lab somewhere, here in az you could take it over to ASU, we find body parts all over, new, used, and fossilized
