Most of them speak... French.

Lol.

*big hugs for you*

And, you can learn it pretty quickly, I suppose. Take a course or two. There are plenty of options.

Anyway, have fun. =P

Oh and... Europe's a beautiful continent. Pick a country, any country, and you're bound to enjoy your vacation.

You MUST see the Eiffel Tower when you are there. France is a beautiful country. They speak french there. Not exactly the same as Canadian french though so take a communication book or lessons on the true french language before you go.

I live in Paris and seem to get around fine for the past 3 years with English...
If you are interested in learning French before arriving check out the Alliance Francais close to your home...
It sould take about 1-2 month for complete basics, and 4-5 to get some ground rules of the language down...

Good luck

They speak french, and a lot of French people speak English,
they love it when you at least try to speak their language.
Southwest France is fantastic, look up Narbonne, but for fall colors go to Normandy they nearly all speak english there as it is so cllose to England. Happy travelling.
Oh I forgot take a phrase book The Lonely Planet is a great one as they give you slang terms as well.

I don't know about speaking but animals are capable to understand different languages. My kitten understands English and French as both myself and my partner talk to him in those 2 languages lol

Jack is right. They speak Canadian, but he forgot to add "with an Aussie accent." I can't believe nobody has mentioned to you that they show the highest regard for Canadians and Americans who walk backwards. Sure, it's a little more difficult to find your way around, but if you will follow this advice from a seasoned traveler, it will be the most memorable trip of your life.

Jack B. is absoloutely correct in his answer. Make sure you take a " Canadian for Idiots " book with you. Also, the locals in france wear little Audrey Hephburn hats, so don't be alarmed, they are just "happy to see you"

hey, above me, Paul S. somebody told me you were cool. what's up with speaking chinese?
