Wind tunnel strength is being used by volunteers wearing toupees attached with a strong adhesive. If the toupee blows off, the wind tunnel is considered to be safe in testing the strength of airplane wings. However, if a man's toupee is sucked into an aircraft's jet engine while he is on the tarmac, he may be charged with sabotage. Balding pilots are advised to take note of this.

Is this a good way to test airplanes?

This is exactly how Velcro was conceived.Toupees are also used in the testing of vacuum cleaners and garbage disposers.

This sounds like a joke. But to offer a serious answer, wind tunnel wind speeds are determined in order to provide specific Reynolds* numbers so that the aerodynamic engineers can make their tests and calculations. I'm afraid that toupees wouldn't have anything to do with it.

*Reynolds number is the ratio of inertial forces to viscous forces and is an important parameter in the investigation of lift and drag and basically any external fluid flow situation

Yes the 747 can be fitted at factory or retro-fitted with fuel tanks in the H stab. not a great idea as a few years back, a Lufthansa 747 was performing touch and goes using a newly delivered 747 with H stab tanks. they filled up the H stab completely, but only had the wings supplying fuel...eventually, the C of G became very unbalanced and caused the 747 to impact the runway tail-first. it was pilot error, but its alot more juggling if you have fuel weight in the H stab.

This makes more sense than throwing a frozen chicken into the jet engine to test its ability to survive sucking in a bird while in flight...

It doesn't sound any worse than the way Lybians do maintenance on their airplanes by throwing something that looks like applejuice on the engines.

You should be ok. Just don't walk too close to wind tunnels and no one will ever know. Your secret is safe on here.
