He will definitely opt out. I say the Yankees have about an 80% chance of keeping him.

I think that the ARod-Cubs story is BS, probably floated by Scott Boras. Not saying that the Cubs won't go after him, but they are talking about a deal with people who don't even own the team yet? And I do think that ARod wants to be on a winner. I know the Cubs fans are all pumped up right now, but they make the playoffs, what, 3 times in 20 years on average? The Yankees have been in the playoffs 13 years straight. You would have to believe it factors in.

Regardless, he'll get a long term recordbreaking mega deal, that'll still be paying him $30 million plus when he's 38 and his production is way down, but that's the way it goes with superstar free agents.

The Yankees say they won't negotiate once he opts out. So that door may close.

They may have to give him a pile of money in the form of an extension and signing bonus, but I don't see how they can let him get away -- especially with a new stadium to fill.

Yahoo is reporting that the cubs are ready to offer him a 10 yr contract, 30 mil a yr, with part ownership after. WOW!

I can see the giants going for him, since they wont have bondzilla anymore.
