1. i bought one and its very convenient
2. when the next iPod nano is released, so probably in a year or so
3. Cause Apple says so
4. 24 hours of music, 5 hours of movies

the 4gb one probably only comes in silver to give you incentive to buy the more expensive version so you can choose a color
