Could be that you ran the gas tank low enough to to pick up trash that was already in your fuel tank. It happens all the time; try not to run your tank any lower than 1/4 of a tank. Very few people will admit it but in the past few years fuel quality has gone downhill and increased use of ethanol tends to "clean" old fuel systems and underground tanks which in turn causes this stuff to end up in your fuel tank if not properly filtered. And even if it gets into your fuel tank clean it will "clean" your fuel tank and probably produce more sediment in it to be sucked up the next time you run your gas tank almost empty.

Back in my "old days" in the military we would routinely clean out rusty and/or dirty fuel tanks with alcohol and water.

We don't really troubleshoot cars on the internet. You have to talk to somebody who can diagnose stuff in real life. Honestly, there aren't many people like that. It's simple to do, though. If a car won't start, the easiest thing in the world is to figure out why, if you're where the car is.

Maybe someone at that gas station sabotaged your car. Did they do any work on it? Best of luck to you
