If you're really wanting to impress your wife with your candle savvy, THE best scents are made by Votivo brand candles. http://votivo.com/
Yes, they are a bit pricey...but oh, so worth it! Absolutely scrumptious- and not cheap, fake or perfumey smelling. My favorite scents are:
Black Currant (their most popular scent hands-down! I first heard about it on Oprah when she and several guests were raving about it. I bought one and was hooked! When people come over they always remark on the lovely fresh scent and ask me for the name.)
Soku Lime
Rosemary Grapefruit - both of these scents are light and fruity.

My second favorite brand of candles is Partylite,

with my favorite scents being:

Cinnamon Sticks (absolutely wonderful during the holidays!)
Mulberry (a fresh berry scent)
Honeydew (fresh, crisp and lightly sweet smelling)

The quality of the candle, in my opinion, makes all the difference in the scent. For example, I've smelled wonderful vanilla candles and absolutely horrid-smelling vanilla candles, depending on what ingredients and perfumes were used to achieve the scent. So my advice would be to find a good quality brand of candles such as Votivo, and then pick a scent that reminds you of your wife, or that you think she would like and you won't go wrong. When most guys would just go to their local drugstore, pick out the first candle that smells ok to them, she will appreciate all the time and effort you took to get her the best!

It really depends on whether your wife likes floral, fruity, or perfumey scents. At this time of year, spiced pumpkin, apple or cinnamon scents are EVERYWHERE! My personal favorite is cinnamon. If you want to go for a "food" smell, vanilla is awesome. Or even a mocha scent. Floral scents should be reserved for spring and summer. In the bedroom, try a very light perfumey or musk scent. Best wishes!

Really, I agree french vanilla ;-)

i like candles! And Yankee are actual the final (from my journey besides!) - the bigger jars they do have long burn cases and my conventional scent is the 'sunwashed linen' one. Mmmm.. purely like a summer season's day!

Candlewood or a musk always smells the best for me. If you could find a patchoulie candle-it's even better.

Black Cherry, baby. That will get her. Make it a good quality candle or it wont smell at all.
