The picture-perfect image of a pregnant belly is a beautiful sight. However, most women find that their bellies don't quite match up. No, there is no "right" way for a belly to look. As long as the baby is healthy, Mommy's appearance doesn't make a difference.
I had the textbook preggo belly my first time. The second time, I looked like a lopsided beach ball. If it makes you self-concious try wearing maternity shirts that diguise it.

You'll probably keep that "middle bend" mark until you are a bit more pregnant then it'll fill in from about your diaphram on downward. Depending on if you're long waisted or not is the main thing. If you're short waisted like I was then yes, you'll have just one smooth big belly after awhile.
Also depends on the way the baby gets turned at times. Believe me, you'll have all different shapes sometimes when they get bigger and start really moving around! At 18 weeks you should feel them kicking and such but you'll start growing more in the next few months as your baby matures and gets ready to be born.

Interesting and I have not seen anything like that although I know what you are talking about. You should ask the doctor or go to mayoclinic.com and research the cases.
My best guess is, being overweight and adding on extra fatty tissue from pregnancy may be causing the 'bump" being uneven. Typically, pregnancy starts low in the abdomen area so perhaps it is just developing below the belly button and by pushing everything up, you see the difference as such.

well, 18 weeks is still pretty early for someone whos overweight to really be showing. Its probably just because you have some extra baggage in your waistline. I wasnt overweight, but i certainly wouldnt consider myself skinny. A size 8/10 before getting pregnant. Though i never had the belly you described, I didnt really obviously show until around 24 weeks or so

Your uterus is still just below your belly button, so you may not start to round out for a few more weeks, maybe a bit longer. I know what you mean though...when i was pregnant, i had what looked like a slight taper to my belly button, then below that I just looked bloated. It started to round out around 20 weeks. If you are overweight, I would suggest watching what you eat, especially now because you can run the risk of making pregnancy and delivery very difficult. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!!

Depends on what you looked like there before. I'm 13 weeks and have one round smooth belly, and this is my 2nd pregnancy, but I am thin to begin with and my tummy was flat to begin with. My best friend has a little extra around the waist and she was around 20 weeks when she got the one smooth belly.

So you are about 4.5 months along! I really didn't get the hard stomach until about 6-7 months. So don't be worried because your belly will start getting firmer and you will lose that middle bend! Your baby is still very tiny so just give it some time!

Some people do not show until the end and some belly's stay really soft.Mine stayed soft for a while in he beginning and now it gets hard alto more than the beginning. In the third trimester it started to get hard more often , now in the end it gets hard allot.I always stuck out round from the first trimester , but it is just relaxed .Maybe you need to drink more water. When I drink the amount of water I am supposed to drink it stays quit hard.

The baby is still very small and I didn't start to get a belly until at least 25 weeks and that was just the starting point.

I am overweight as well and I am at my 40 week now. To be honest I didn't get that beautiful prego belly untill I hit my 8th month. I know it totally sucks because you just feel you are getting fatter with nothing adorable to show off. Unfortunetly you'll probably not get one of those skinny pretty prego bellies but you'll adventually start looking pregnant. Good luck and just feel beautiful not matter what because you are careing life within you.
