What Dylan Thomas is saying (it's one of my favorite poems, by the way) is that as we get older we should not give in to old age like some timid sheep but fight getting old, living life to it's fullest for as long as possible. Read the poem, people!
************************
DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and not stray,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Honestly, I've never heard of that. If it's a metaphor, I don't understand how one could NOT go gently into a "good" night. Literally, all my nights are gentle. I transition into the night, sweeping away every draining task of the day, not a thought of what I must do the next, but "empty" my thoughts & feelings & enjoy the peacefulness & quiet. That is my space, my relaxing time. Whatever was, was. Whatever will be, will be. But there's no point in fuddling around with what was, or what may be. If there's another meaning here, & I didn't see it, I'm sorry!

always give the best you can give and even when the best is all you think you have....find that last bit of whatever it takes to fight the good fight and should you not wake in the morning you have done all that you could do.......to make it a worthily day before.

"...rage, rage against the dying of the light."
Somewhere else I heard we're supposed to travel toward the light at the end of things. It does sound better, doesn't it?
