I am in urgent need of a lawyer... I feel that my rights were violated in school... (long story)... I need and want a lawyer? Are there any that work for the government who are free? I dont have money... I am just like most college students, I dont have money... What can I do? Are there any Free ones?

There are no free services for a civil action through the district attorney, etc.. if you feel there was a crime committed, you can contact them. Otherwise, you would have to go to a non-profit who would be willing to either supply the attorney at their cost or has an attorney who takes cases pro-bono if it can impact on a cause he believes in. IE, gun rights, call the NRA. Race discrimination, call the ACLU or NAACP.

Many states require attorneys to put in a certain amount of pro bono (free or nearly free) legal service -- you can get referrals from your state bar association.

And some attorneys will accept a case on contingency -- taking a percentage of the award rather than fees up front.

If a lawyer thinks that you can win a nice settlement, they might take your case on contingency but other than that, I think you're out of luck. Legal Aid pro bono lawyers usually don't take cases like that.

Yes, some indigent people can get free legal aid. Contact your city or state social services.
