Hi, there is 1024 kb in 1 mb, and 1024 mb in 1 gb. So, if you devide 5888 by 1024 you get 5.75 mb, if you then devide 5.75 mb by 1024 you get .0056 gb, which I rounded to the nearest 1000th. It is easier to consider how many Megabytes you have, rather than Gigabytes, because that is closer to your actual file allocation space. 5888 is far from being even 1 Gigabyte.
1 Megabyte = 1024 Kilobytes
1 Gibabyte = 1024 Megabytes
So, 5888 Kilobytes divided by how many Kilobytes is in a Megabyte will equel how many megabytes that many kilobytes translates into. You then divide the resulting Megabytes by 1024 again, which is how many Megabytes is in 1 Gigabyte to find how many Gibabytes that results in.
To keep it simple, just remember that each higher amount has 1024 pieces of the smaller amount. If you have I Gibabyte then you would have 1024 multiplied by 1024 which equals 1048576 Kilobytes in 1 Gigabyte. Just as 1000 times 1000 equals 1000000. It is just that pesky 24 at the end of Kilo, Mega, Giga, Peta, etc, that is so annoying to deal with.
If there are 1024 Kilobytes in each Megabyte and 1024 Megabytes in each Gigabyte, then you multiply the Kilobytes and Megabytes together. Or:
You can do it backwards by dividing by the larger amount. Like this:
5888/1024=5.75/1024=.0056
See?
Hope this helps, have a nice evening.
