You bastard, you've just stolen some poor spider's breakfast!!
I wouldn't have bothered saving the DLL as they only live for a day or so anyway...

I absolutely HATE daddy long legs with a passion (serious phobia) but I don't believe in killing them so I guess I will help the little guy keep all his legs. so long as the ugly git has two or three legs free he can get the web off by himself. I'v seen them do this before. that or I guess you could use the end of a wet cotton bud to try and catch most of the web off. That should be gentle enough for the legs but strong enough to get most of the webbing off.
WHY DID GOD INVENT THESE USELESS CREATURES?

You've heard that saying,'you have to be cruel to be kind'. In this case, you have to be kind to be cruel'. When the web gets stuck to a cranefly..there is little chance of saving it's legs. If you manage to get it free minus a leg or two,it would'nt be able to fly or land because it needs all its legs. The only thing to do is let the spider have its dinner.

Sorry I don't know...but if I save an insect from a spiders web, I normally leave the insect to find it's own way.......then again, that could be cruel in itself.
It's nice to know there are others that save insects from spiders webs.......just remember not to do it too often, otherwise the spider starves.
Nature must take it's course.

You should've let it be. While it may be cruel to you, it's perfectly normal for mother nature. Spiders eat other spiders, even that DLL you just saved will eat smaller spiders and bugs. DLL are very fragile and it will be impossible to remove the webbing without hurting it. Do the best you can and turn it loose.

Hmmm - tricky....
Maybe you could try very gently cutting the web off with scissors? But be careful not to cut off his legs! Put him outside near some water and he should be fine.

first you will need two pairs of tweezers, one for his legs, and the other for the web. gently undo one leg at a time until it is free. Be careful not to let a free leg to be captured again. Scamper away my eight legged friend.
