It helps disguise run plays from pass plays, because run plays are more effective when QBs are under center.

the NFL runs more shotgun then college,you use the shotgun to give the quarterback more time to see the field in passing situations,college teams use the shotgun also to run their option plays

More quarterbacks in college are used to running,by using the shotgun they can have a better view where the holes are and use their blockers

becuz NFL n NCCA have there own rules when it comes to plays.
