I would prefer answers that do not come straight out of a philosophy class if at all possible. Show me something original.

I think that a person is why when he or she admits to the fact that he or she cannot know and understand everything.

The first sign of wisdom is when your newly acquired insights can be applied to your own life. Live by example. if you have a philosophy of life emerging that addresses the issue of happiness then, your wisdom will shine as you begin to live it.

The first sign of wisdom is recognizing the reason to learn. To understand that there will always be space for additional knowledge to fill. To seek to listen to the wisdom that seeks me.

Being able to answer lifes questions from the personal experience you've gained from having gone through whatever the person who's asking the question is going through. A case of "been there, done that".

If you trust Socrates, it's knowing that you know nothing. In short, that the percentage of knowledge accumulated by even the smartest man is still just peanuts next to all the information one can acquire in the world. It also helps to keep one's ego in check if you live your life that way

I think you become wise when you first have the ability to learn from pain.

Some people learn this in childhood - others as adults - and some never do.
