First I wanna commend you on a great time line that you created. I thought you did a thorough job of listing the years of hip hop and what it represented. I think you hit it on the button when you listed Puffy's era hurting hip hop the worse. I have said this time and time again on YA and most people disagree with me. I think Puffy has a major influence on the whole "hip hop is dead" stigma. Money has always been a prevalent object in hip hop but Puffy brought into play hard and flamboyantly. I think the Master P era def lead the whole Cash Money movement into play.

It went under...ummm well I think at of these eras in hip hop had it hand in killing it...Puffy turn ppl on to being more into money, power, respect...lyrics started to get "careless"...But it still had it moments like the LOX leaving Bad Boy and Black Rob wasnt to much part of that shiny ****...And Jarule wasnt to bad except he gave up that Tupac look...Also it brought us DMX and Eve...So that was do able...Masta P that UUUUUUUUH was annoying but it high points were Ludacris, Mia X, and Mystical you could stomach..Plus we we still had our favorites like Nas and J...Putting out quality.
Bling to me just sucked it was the beginning of the catchy...No skill sh*t...But it didnt last for real...Something like Masta P and em'..But this last era is just taking the cake...no skills, catchy, and annoying that even real hip hop heads are not tryna compromise with this. You cant even find a song to actually say ok thats not too bad...You cant say that about almost any of it. So thats why I think they all played a part in make it what it is today.

Puffy's shinny era was bad, and I do believe it help set the motion for what we see a lot of the industry now, but the worse I would have to say is definitely the Master P's No Limit era. I actually liked him before this era. Once the no limit era started it became extremely irritating and annoying, w/ the glorification of the no limit jewelry and clothing. Yeah that was so much worse than puffy's era.

I think the rap now is killing Hip Hop. No original lyrics, too many back pack rappers that dominate radio play.
I do agree with you, the 90s was probably the best era as far as original Hip Hop goes, lots of new and different styles.

It instruments stereotypes that are furthered by way of the black community. i do in contrast to new rap yet countless the previous rap songs are great. Even crammed with violence, some rap songs have been actual artistic endeavors. look at information from d12. He became an underrated lyrical genius that have been given shot some years back. hear to his music Kurt Cobain on youtube or yet another of his great songs and tell me it is not paintings. The rappers of in the present day purely don't be able to rouse emotions the way he did. RIP

1997 because it wasn't that Puffy glamorized money and flossing...it's just that this is the year that corporate America realized that they could make major chips off this music...in the following years the huge concerts like the Hard Knock Life Tour and the Cash Money and Ruff Ryder tours all brought in huge amounts of money...but Puffy started it all of when he showed the power of this culture to get people to do what you want them too...and buy a lot of s hit...then it became the tried and true method to selling a record...
