I don't completely understand your question, BUT what I do know is velocity is when you speed up or slow down where as speed is the average time is takes you to go from one point to another ( s = d/t ).

For something to be a vector it must have two components; a quantity and a direction. Velcoity has both. Example: 25mph east on Elm street. 25mph is the quantity. East is the direction.

Speed is the absolute value of the velocity; the quantity without the direction. If I say, "I'm moving at 25mph." I'm telling you what my speed is but you don't know what direction I'm moving in.

velcoity has two components: the magnitude and in what direction you are headed.

When you talk about speed, the direction does not matter.

Vectors also have a magnitude and a direction. This makes velocity a vector.

Speed, being only a magnitude, is a scalar quantity.

A vector quanity has a unit AND a number AND a direction. A scalar quanity has only a unit and a number.

Velocity has direction; speed does not.

Velocity=5m/s north, for example. Speed is 5m/s.
