These are only cues, not absolute proof that someone is lying.
The person may refuse to look you in the eye while speaking to you. They may hymn and ha around while answering you. They try to answer you indirectly. They tend to flush or have a very slight sweat. But there are some people who lie so well that when you know the truth for a fact, you doubt your own eyes because they can lie so convincingly.

I would think that the honest person would be furious, naturally because they know they aren't guilty and therefore have no reservations in "saying the wrong thing" (though I might add being angry sometimes can make you do that). If your guilty on the other hand, you become self conscious of every little detail (unless your a master at this, which, I would think, very few people are) because people are instinctively afraid of authority and punishment.
Also, if you try to have eye contact with a person and they keep breaking off, usually they're telling a lie, or they're just shy, or they like you. It is hard to tell sometimes.

Psychologists have studies this and believe that people look to the left and slightly down woulds, they can not look the personin this eyes- They blink more often than usual when talking!
one study with a heat activated camera showed that when people lie they get hot flushes under there eyes and top of cheeks and nose so this might be noticable depending on the persons skin type, like i know my skin easily shows up blotches if I cry, and lie and blush!
the other thing is just general nervousness eg. fidgetting, change in voice and pitch, speed of talking etc.
It is interesting but i guess depends on how good of a liar the person is

Personally, I have special antenna that let me know when someone's bs'ing me! - LOL. I just get a feeling that something's fishy in what they're saying.
There are inconsistencies when liars speak. When asked or probed, questions are answered very quickly and sometimes the person becomes annoyed from being questioned.
I've also noticed a rapidity in speech patterns. And also, when the conversation is over, there is a look of relief on the person's face.

Gradually lies will come to light if you spend enough time with the person because it's just too hard for them to cover all the tracks of their lies. Contradictions start to develop because they forgot what they told you before and they tell you something different. Lying is just too much work and eventually the person will slip up.

A person who is generally lying looks to their left when they "recall" something. It is easier for the person to think because it causes less tension on their eyes.
Also if they talk very fast and usually in what seems to be rehearsed full sentences.
Some people become distant after they tell lies.

there tone of voice gives it away for me. Just knowing the person isnt good enough to tell if he's lying or a liar.
