I moved from southern CA, lived there for 30yrs. I have a child. The work is great here for my husband & I. My husband is union IBEW & they get paid 42.00$ a hour. 40% of the houses are vaccent here. It is a buyers market right now!!!! I would NOT move to Noth Vegas that is were a lot of the crime is!!!! The west side is very nice, or the far east side. The traffic is not much. Barely any smog. Not a bad place. It does get hot in the summer, 4th July we hit 116. Last Jan we didn't get over 44 durring the day. It is windy here. But nice.

Yea I sure do, If you have an adictive personality this may not be the town for you there are a lot of ways to feed your VICES Drinking Gambleing Women all 24 hours a day.....alsoif you do not like the heat might I suggest at haveing a summer retreat where you can go from june through august 115 = is realy hot sometimes it is still 100 out at midnight ... On the bright side there is lots of great things to do and see here and jobs in the service industry are plenty and if you are a hard worker AND plesant you can make great money. There are a lot of people with bad attitudes working as waiters here I think they probably dont make much. If looking for a job try STATIONCASINOS.COM THEY ARE GROWING FAST

If you are coming here like I did, (just a bag and bus ticket)
then the fastest way to get employment in Las Vegas is being an unarmed guard.

And yes, you have to pay to work here in this town.

Just get an app, pay 90 dollars for a sheriff's card, and go to work.

As for the entertainment goes, it good, but it isn't called Sin City just to fill hotel rooms.

The vice is everywhere here.
Escorts, drinking, and gambling is everywhere you go.

24/7.

If you let it control you, (especially the gambling) you will you hit beyond rock bottom,

It is also hot and dry here in the valley of the meadows.

The best times to vist is during the fall or winter months.
(Oct to Feb.)

It is not the best time to come here on the weekends and definitely NOT the best time to come during the summer, when the mercury is up around 115 to 125 degrees F (.45 to 52 degrees C)

In case you forgot, it is located in the Mojave desert, so you will learn to drink bottled water, dress cool, wear sunscreen, and go out at night.

Other then that, hope your move will be a smooth one.

Sincerely,
Mike

Yes - Stay where you are. I moved here from the northeast 3 years ago and I can't wait to go back. I thought commuting from southern CT to Manhattan was a traffic nightmare...then I moved to Vegas, people here just don't know how to drive and they don't care that they don't know how to drive. It's crazy.

If you have kids, you don't want them to go the public schools, it seems like every night on the news, between Sept and June, some dumbass decides to bring a gun on the school grounds, not that it doesn't happen in other places, it just seems it's EVERY DAY here.

I could go on and on but....

I'm moving back east as soon as my lease on my apt is up - I tried it, but Vegas just isn't for me.

Move to the Northwest part of the city, very low crime, less traffic, great neighborhoods with all the amenities; short distance to downtown & the strip; great place to start your own business and be very successful

Well my advice would be don't!!! I currently live in las vegas and don't like it that well. If you do decide to be very thorough in your decision of where you choose to live.
