whether a pink or the blue sperm make it an egg first!!
sounds stupid, overly simplistic... but in the end, it's the truth...
now to increase your odds of pink or blue... there are ways to track your own most fertile days... depending on what you're hoping for there will be a different set of "instructions" on what days to do the "baby dance"...
this is not a sure shot... but can increase your chances from 50/50 to 70/30
the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is great at the details... I'm sure there are other books or online sources as well.

In humans, sex is determined by the presence or absence of the Y chromosome. Males have one X and one Y chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes. Since Mom and Dad both contribute one of the sex chromosomes, and mom has only X to give, the sex of the child is determined by whether the father's sperm carries an X or a Y. If the sperm is carrying a Y, the baby will be male, but if it's carrying an X, the baby will be female.
Some doctors and scientists believe that there are methods that increase the chances of conceiving the gender of choice depending when during a woman's menstrual cycle the baby is conceived. This is based on the relatively small difference in size between the X chromosome (large) and Y (small) and the fact that a woman's reproductive tract has chemical changes that can be more or less hospitable to sperm. In practice, these methods have not worked out to be highly reliable for a couple who wants a certain gender, but they may show a statistical advantage (more couples will have boys when they conceive during the specified interval, but not all).
Some people use the example of the Jewish practices of "kosher" sexual intercourse as a method for conceiving boys (Kosher is used in an unofficial way here). There is an incidence of male children being born more often than female in some Jewish populations, and scientists have suggested it is because Jews abstain from intercourse until 14 days after the woman's menstruation ends. At this time, the environment of the woman's reproductive organs may be more hospitable to Y carrying sperm, or less hospitable to X carrying sperm.

In a child development class that I was taking the teacher told us that yes, a man determines the baby gender, she also said that the female also had a say in whether the baby will be a male or female.. According to her, a female contains a type of acid in her vagina. If the acid is strong than it increases the chances of the baby being a girl because a male sperm is weaker than the female sperm. And the strong acid would kill most of the male sperm increasing the chances of a female sperm reaching the egg.

It all depends on the chromosomes. A boy has Xy chromosomes and a girl has XX. They get one from each parent. The probability is 50/50 of it being a boy or a girl as each parent gives either an X or a y. If the child receives an X from both parents, then it will be a girl. On the same note, if it receives an X from the mom and a y from the dad (because the dad can give both X and y), then it will be a boy.

Absolutly nothing. There is absolutly nothing that can manipulate the outcome. We humans are not like aligators where heat temperature levels of the egg nest is a key factor for sex determination or orientation. So your awnser is absolutly nothing can variate or aid in the chances of chosing the sex of the fetus but the luck of the draw. It is exactly like a coin toss. 50/50 chances.

It is always the man's sperm that determines the baby's gender, not just usually as a previous poster suggested.

That chromosomes in the daddy's sperm determines this at conception. I don't know why the previous posters who answered this go thumbs down because they are correct!

the father.
mom has always X chromosomes
But dad could contribute with either Y or with another X
If dad gives X, then it's a girl
but if dad gives Y, a boy is on the way.

It depends on the guy, but usually they say if you have sex a few days prior to ovulation and leadig up to it, but not having sex the day you ovulate, you have a high chance og having a girl because boy sperm is faster and doesn't live as long, and they'll die off before the egg gets there and the girl sperm will move in.
If you want a boy, have sex the day you ovulate, and the day after.
Good luck!
